Franciscan Earthenware Pink Dessert Salt and Pepper

Gladding,McBean & Company began production of Franciscan ware in this country in 1934 per Replacements Ltd. The Franciscan ware is noted for their fine quality and versatility made in durable earthenware.

The pattern of this salt and pepper set is called small Pink Dessert Rose purchased in the 1950's by the previous owner. This pattern was very popular and was produced from 1941-1984.

The shakers stand 2 1/2 inches high. The soft pink color forms the petals and has soft green leaves around the bottom. The corks in the bottom are dry and may need to be replaced. The shakers are still usable with no chips or cracks noted at this time.

The Franciscan ware was purchased by very famous families. One family was Jacqueline Kennedy for use on Air Force one in 1961. The Richard Nixon's purchased for service aboard the Presidential Yacht.

The Franciscan Factory closed in 1984 when relocation was made back to England.
