Evans EPNS Compote With Lattice Lid

This was a very special piece from the previous owners estate. This could be from the beauty or the fact it was from her grandmother. I believe this to be a rare piece from the 1920's.

The compote is hallmarked EPNS. The makers marked with the two lions and shield are marked. Below the shield is marked Evans and the pattern number of X108. The company was in production from 1922-1960. They are most famous for producing compacts, cigarette lighters and cases, They also produced beautiful enamel jewelry which is hard to find. The company also produced limited pieces of holloware.

I believe the lattice lid with engraving is silver over brass. There is a acorn on the top for a handle and measures 7 1/4 inches in diameter and fits perfectly with no sliding on the top of the compote.

The compote stands 3 1/2 inches high. The rim to rim diameter is 10 inches. The bowl is 7 inches in diameter. There are four engravings on the rim. Two of a pretty lady and two of flower urns.

There are a few utensil marks on the inside bottom of the bowl. On the bottom the protective coating seems to be wearing off. No other issues are noted at this time.

This rare piece is in good used vintage condition.
