Vintage 1944 The World of Washington Irving, Hardbound by Van Wyck Brooks

This was apparently the first book by Van Wyck Brooks in a short series devoted to literary history in the United States. It appears to touch on literary notables and places during the period of Washington Irving’s writings. There are chapters referencing Edgar Allen Poe, James Fennimore Cooper and John J. Audubon among others. It has a 1944 copyright by Van Wyck Brooks and was published by E.P. Dutton & Co., Inc. No dust jacket.

It measures about 8 3/4” by 6” by 1 3/16” and is in very good condition with minimal wear. The linen covered hardbound cover shows very slight corner and edge wear. The pages are basically crisp and clean with a tight spine.

The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
