Arts & Crafts Style Liggett & Myers Fatima Cigarette Nickel Silver Box
The Fatima Cigarettes brand was first introduced in the 1870's. It was one of the first brands to be made by a mechanical cigarette making machine. The brand was originally marketed as a compelling, exotic smoke, a blend of fine Turkish tobaccos, thus the name and the mysterious Turkish woman's image used to market them. Fatima was for many years one of the most popular cigarette brands on the market, but by the 1940's another Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company brand, Chesterfield, had become more popular with consumers. Production of the Fatima brand ended in 1980.
