Vintage Belt Macrame Braided Cords Shells Mother of Pearl Beads

This is a very unusual and eye catching belt, handmade of rows of braided cords, ie macrame, in a salmon shade, and embellished with an exquisite front central large polished shell, that reminds me of abalone, but it is shades of deep brown blending with mother of pearl that has a rainbow of iridescent hues. There are small white mollusk shells clustered on either side of it, further embellished with black beads. The effect is very unique and striking. My research indicates these belts are c1980s vintage.

The belt is adjustable, with one section of the cording able to slide through a reinforced braid loop and then tie on the other end in a variety of ways. Very versatile.

The total length is almost 5 feet! with the central braided section at 13 inches long x 2 1/4 inches wide. The large shell "buckle" is 6 x 3 1/2 inches, 7 1/2 inches including the smaller shells on each side.

Condition is excellent and looks like it may never have been used.
