Antique Schafer Vater Jasperware Creamer Pitcher Cameo Lady Jug

This is a lovely blue Art Nouveau era Schafer and Vater creamer size jug made from a slate blue bisque porcelain aka jasperware, that is adorned with a raised bas relief cameo of a womans head, side view, in cream white on a lavender background, with a different Victorian styled lady in the front and back. There is additional white decoration. The pitcher has a flattened shape with front and back rims parallel rather than round, and the handle is angular, with a pointed spout.

The base is engraved with the Bavarian Schafer & Vater trademark crown and star, as well as the number 4637, as well as the artist's initials.

Height is 3.25 inches, with width of 5.5 inches from spout tip to handle outer edge, and 2.5 inches across front to back. Condition is excellent with the usual color variations and undulations characteristic of antique handmade ceramics like these.

The Schafer and Vater company was located at Volksted Rudolstadt, Thuringia, Germany, originating in 1896.
