Vintage Cedar Wood Lipstick Bar Block
This style of rectangular asymmetrical cedar wood lipstick receptacles were very popular souvenir shop items in the 1950s - 1960s. They had an assortment of place names and US State sights painted under the LIPSTICK BAR, which on this block has a flower on each side, all gold paint highlighted. I am unable to fully decipher the place name lettering inscribed on this one, other than that it begins with a P and Caves in Oregon.
Dimensions of the angular piece are 6 3/4 in. wide x 1 in depth at the top and 7 1/2 in. wide x 1 3/4 in. at the bottom. It stands almost 2 inches tall and has six holders for the lipsticks, which are 1 1/4 x 3/4 inches
The lipstick bar is in excellent vintage condition, some wear around the edges. I have not polished the wood, but the cedar can be oiled and polished to a gorgeous glow. There is a 257 numbered on the base.
