Vintage Handbag Cream Leather Ruth Saltz Designer Couture Purse Mad Men Sixties

Swinging Sixties short sling strap leather purse by designer Ruth Saltz, who made her mark on the Couture fashion world with her signature line in the 1960s, and continued designing her elegant and chic fashion accessories for Nordstrom, amongst others, through the Seventies and Eighties.

This leather bag is ivory or creamy beige shaded and has a dark silvertone metal frame that closes securely with a flip over clasp.

The handbag has a twist plait strap that attaches to the frame with two chunky metal rings, with just over 12 inches from the top of strap to top of bag, creating a comfortable sling strap. The bag is 11 x 8 inches at the center, with a 10 inch span across the top of the frame and 101/2 inch across the base, which expands its 2 panels to almost 4 inches.

A chunky 8 x 3/4 inch Talon zipper adds pizazz to one side of this very well made bag, and there is also a 71/4 inch zippered pouch in the beautifully finished fabric interior, above which the gold 'Ruth Saltz' signature is stamped.

Overall condition is excellent and clean, with only light wear marks inside and out. Mad Men fashion statement!

Ruth Saltz passed away on July 9th 2009 at age 87, and leaves a legacy of her very special and sought after handbags from the 60s 70s & 80s.
