Antique MZ Austria Porcelain Creamer Hand Painted
This antique white porcelain creamer is beautifully hand decorated with an abstract design in shades of green, beige and copious gold trim, and bears the green MZ Austria bird crest mark and signature, along with the numbers 1003/4. I believe this is the mark used by Moritz Zdekauer on porcelains made in Altrohlau, Austria, from 1884 to 1909. (The mark was changed to MZ Altrohlau in 1909, after the firm was purchased by C.M. Hutschenreuther.)
This elegant creamer measures 4 1/2 inches across from spout to handle, 2 1/2 inches across the middle rim, front to back, and 3 inches tall from foot to spout. It is in excellent condition with only very light loss of the gilding along the rim, and the rest of the hand painted decoration remarkably intact.
Whether used as a creamer, or rather as a decorative accent, this is a delightful piece on antique Austrian porcelain.
