This is a nice children's book and is appropriate for both boys and girls. It is the story of a working dog, a border collie that gets left behind by an unloving master when the island they are living on is evacuated due to volcanic activity. The dog is left behind in a world that is familiar but very changed from the one he knew. The story has a happy ending and the dog finally gets the love he deserves.
