Boyd Purple Valor One Inch Chick Covered Salt Dish

This hen on nest salt dish base measures 2 1/2" in length by 2" in width and the top measures 2" x 1 1/2". It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. It is marked on the inside of the base with a "B" inside a diamond. This is the mark of Boyd Crystal Art Glass from Cambridge, Ohio. Boyd calls this a "one-inch-chick". The chick salt has a straight head and tail. It is on a one-horizontal, one-vertical rib basket weave base that continues on the bottom. The edge of the rim is scalloped. The color, purple valor, #182, was introduced on 11/5/2001. Although Boyd Crystal Art Glass only makes a color once and then never again in any mold, some of them are pretty close. The Boyds are known for the variety of unusual colors they create. As their website states they manufacture "with a man and a mould and not with an automated machine".
