Open Shell Shaped Pin

This is an interesting gold plated shell shaped pin with a shape similar to that of the logo of Shell Oil, but it has cut outs. It is unmarked as to maker and shows no sign of wear. If I didn't know it had been pre-owned, I would have thought it was new.
