Finnish Silver and Gold Washed Souvenir Spoon with Reindeer Sleigh
This unusual silver souvenir spoon from Finland is hallmarked 813H for silver purity. It has a maker's mark (which I have yet to identify), as well as the heart with a crown which is the Finland National Mark, the town mark for Turku, and the Date code 07 for 1967. This spoon resembles a Sami or Laplander's traditional wedding spoon. In Finland, a groom would carve a wooden spoon for his bride which they would use at the wedding then hang over the door of their home. This souvenir spoon handle is embossed with a reindeer pulling a sleigh. There are 6 small rings attached to the handle. The spoon has a gold washed bowl. There is a small stain under the handle where there was a sticker of some sort. The spoon measures 4.5" long.
