Limoges Fragonard Courting Scene Cobalt & Gold Gilding Powder Jar / Covered Box, Prevot
In excellent to near mint condition, this Limoges Cobalt powder jar features a Fragonard courting scene. It has gold gilded accents along the rim of the jar and tdhe lid, as well as at the rim, and framing the Fragonard scene. The jar, probably ca 1950s, measures 5-3/4” in diameter and 2-7/8” tall.
It bears two Limoges France marks, one of which is usually seen on cobalt blue miniature boxes by Prevot. Andre Prevot began decorating porcelain in 1945 and shortly thereafter expanded to the production of porcelain.
