Native American Sugalite and Opal Inlay Cross and Triple Strand of Amethyst Beads

This cross and its amethyst bead necklace are stunning. The cross has inlay of Sugalite (the sugalite mines have played out so Sugalite is very difficult to get now) and laboratory created opals( lab opals have all the beauty of opals grown in nature and they are much more durable ) with a zig zag design done in onyx inlay. The cross measures 2 inches by 1 1/12 inches without the bale. The bale adds an additional 1 inch to the drop length of the pendant. The inlay portion of the cross rises 1/4 of an inch above the bottom. The inlay is surrounded by a Sterling Silver edge with notched edge decoration.

The cross hangs from a 22 1/2 inch triple strand of natural amethyst and Sterling Silver beads. The amethyst and silver beads have a diameter of 4mm. There are Sterling Silver cones at each end of the bead necklace. The clasp is a hook and eye clasp.

The back of the cross is marked Sterling along with the maker's mark 'TF' in uppercase letters. The cross and its accompanying bead necklace come from the reservation in Gallup, New Mexico and is a contemporary piece.
