Collectible Water Carrier in Pagoda Pendant signed Hattie Carnegie

According to Judith Miller's "Costume Jewelry" book, Hattie Carnegie's pieces were favoured by the likes of Hollywood's notables, including Tallulah Bankhead, Joan Fontaine, Norma Shearer and Joan Crawford. Today, Hattie's signed pieces are as eagerly sought after as they were then".

So, how fortunate for those of you who do collect jewelry by Hattie Carnegie, that our frequent consigner, Cynthia, has this rare signed Carnegie pendant for you. The pendant depicts a lady carrying water framed in a pagoda-like structure. The pendant from bale to base is 3" long and over 2" wide at the bottom. Then suspended from that are 3 oriental dangles varying in size from 1" to 1.5". And there are 2 little jade stones set either side at the pendant bottom.

While there is wear to the gold-plate finish on both front and back, this signed piece is otherwise in very good condition. It's currently suspended from a shoe-lace type of velveteen in reasonable condition but I suppose you could replace it with chain if desired. The bale is wide enough to take a thick, heavy chain, which would be needed as this pendant weighs 44 grams.

Well this is as much as I can tell you about this one. Perhaps some of you Hattie Carnegie experts can tell us more and I'd love to hear from you. I do know such pieces are very collectible and often command high prices. Thanks for looking.
