1940's Skunk Fur Hat and Matching Muff

Genuine black skunk fur hat with matching muff, hand warmer. Glistening black coarse hair, skunk fur was worn by 1940's women that wanted something similar to monkey fur but was less expensive. Round hat with large black velvet bow perches jauntily a top head and is held on with black velvet straps. Label inside hat says, New York Creation, mfg under Fair Labor Standards. Hat measures 7" in diameter and bow is as wide as hat. Muff is 13" wide and 11" high. The back is done in glossy black satin, which is completely gathered. It features a 4 1/2” long zipper, which works perfectly and opens to a 5" deep pocket which held a ladies hankie and coin purse. When not warming hands inside this chic muff it could be carried by the black satin wrist strap. This truly wonderful vintage find is in excellent condition.
