1950s Gold Tone Plastic Filigree Flower Necklace Earrings Demi Parure West Germany
This vintage demi parure from the 1950s was made in West Germany. Pink has historically been and is associated with the definition of femininity and flowers having a sense of delicacy. This set combines both these qualities and you need not be a young Molly Ringwold to appreciate their prettiness. First for the necklace. The gold tone chain with its trailer and pink bead at one end leads to the central design. This is a series of seven flowers in two alternating sizes: large and smaller. Each flower is multi layered. Each of the three larger flowers has eight pink petals and separating the petals from the inner pink center is a highly filigree gold tone design. The four smaller flowers have a gold tone center , five bordering petals and an outer filigree boundary of five segments. Gold tone metal and pink make a striking contrast and a dynamic unity of opposites. The necklace has a hook and trailer to adjust the length which is 17 1/2". The larger flowers measure 1 1/4" by 1 1/4", while the smaller ones are 3/4" by 3/4".
The clip on earrings continue the pink floral pattern. They are an exact replica of the larger flowers on the necklace both in design and size, which is 1 1/4" by 1 1/4". The necklace has a hang tag which says West Germany and the earrings are marked on the clip backs.
