Porcelain Soldier Boy Napkin Ring Holder Japan ca 1920-30s

Porcelain "tin" soldier boy napkin ring / holder wears a black helmet with red plume. His red shirt is criss-crossed with white straps. His black boots peek out from beneath his white pants and he is standing on green grass. A rifle is at his shoulder. This sweet little "toy" soldier is painted in the round.

Intended to hold a napkin, it stands 4 1/2 inches high by 2 3/4 inches in diameter. The base is stamped in black Made in Japan. I am dating it to the 1920s and 30s based on the mark and on his winsome expression. He is glancing sideways.

The porcelain has no chips nor cracks and there is minimal wear to the paint. The edge of his helmet visor has paint rubs as well as a tiny amount of grass. While he would be especially cute on a Christmas table, he is delightful year round.
