Longpark Torquay Vase English Pink Roses on Streaky Mauve Ground ca. 1920s
The mauve-pink ground was applied with wide brush strokes over a white base coat which gives a variation in the color from light to dark. The spray of large pink roses is set off by dark green leaves and black outlining. The roses have yellow centers accented with black.
This piece has an appeal which would make it quite comfortable in the formal home as well as the country or Arts and Crafts home. It is a wonderful example of the hand work of the early 20th century.
Longpark Pottery was one of the many potteries working in the Torquay area of England. The presence of red clay beds fostered the development of their art pottery.
There is a white paper label identifying the previous owner and the numbers from her collection* These can be removed. Condition is very good with no chips nor loss of glaze. Large white spots in the photos are glare from the camera lights.
