The Madonna of the Harpies Andrea del Sarto Lithograph

We're offering this beautiful Andrea del Sarto's religious lithograph titled The Madonna of the Harpies, the original of which was accomplished with tempera painted on wood back in 1517.

The artwork was commissioned collectively by nuns from the order of the Poor Clares residing in the convent of San Francesco de'Macci and they had wanted the art to serve as an altarpiece. Despite the piece being completed a year late and not quite what was expected, The Madonna of the Harpies nonetheless is widely considered to be THE most famous work by Andrea del Sarto. What a beautiful art-piece it is!

The borderless lithograph print measures 7-3/16" x 8-3/8" and is tipped-in along the left edge to a much larger cream-colored backing that served as a page in a large, old art book. It is in excellent condition with a few very minor issues that are not noticeable when casually viewed. Most notable are an ink mark that appears to be off the print outside the lower left edge and a pinhead-sized paper chip about midway up along the left edge.
