Egyptian Inspired Sand Textured Brass Earrings with Lapis
These unique Egyptian inspired earrings feature sand textured brass combined with lapis beads. I created the sand texture into the metal by putting it thru a steel rolling mill. It is a wonderful process for creating texture on metal, and you never quite know how the metal will turn out. This particular texture turned out great because it left a wonderful, deep pattern onto the metal. I sawed out the shapes for the earrings, and then filed all of the edges until smooth. I added the lapis beads to the bottom of the earrings with brass wire that ends with a spiral pattern. These earrings have a sleek and contemporary look, and can go with just about everything—dressed up or down.
The earrings measure approx. 2-1/4" in length and 3/4" in width (at the widest point), and are signed on the back with my initials. They hang from handmade ear wires that I hand forged out of brass wire. The front of the ear wires also has a spiral which echoes the spiral on the bottom of the earrings.
