These vintage salt and pepper shakers depict the 1920's cartoon character Adamson, more commonly known as "Silent Sam", from Oscar Jacobbson's "Adamson's Adventures" about a silent little cigar-smoking man with a big hat and frequent misadventures. Both shakers are the same character in different attire. The hand painted shakers measure about 3 1/2" and are marked "JAPAN" in black letters on the bottom. They are in very good vintage condition. I believe these are jumping gazelles salt and pepper shakers. They are hand painted and still bear their original foil sticker which reads "THAMES, Hand Painted, Made in Japan". Otherwise, they are marked with a "C" inside a circle on the bottom. They measure about 3" and have their original stoppers.
