This wonderful old statue of Saint Joseph holding the Christ child and a sprig of lilies is marked on the back CIE.LA FRANCE STATUAIRE. The number 55 is on the back on the base, and incised on the bottom is a large "e". This piece is most likely from about the 1940s. It has numerous spots of paint loss and a hairline crack at the wrist of the child were it may have been repaired. It appears to be either chalkware or some kind of ceramic.
