$32 USDVintage 1966 Papier Mache Brush Holder Hong Horizons Folk Art Paper

Very charming and unusual vintage 1960's figure of a big-eyed girl with her cat sitting at her feet. It was made by Hong Horizons in 1966 as marked on the bottom. I am unsure if it is meant to be a planter, or a vase, or... I was also informed that it could be a hair brush/comb or makeup brush holder. It is made of papier mache, so i am thinking it is probably a brush holder, however I can imagine many uses... perfect for pens/pencils, or simply display it empty!
