Elegantly and intricately painted, this beautiful teapot from China is just wonderful. The delicate painting is reminiscent of cloissone, but this is a 'painted' cloissone, with thin lines of gold paint representing the metal divisions. It is so eloquently done, it just doesn't matter that it is not true cloissone. A work of art in itself, the paintings of pairs of cranes on each of the six sides of the teapot are exquisite.
