Offered here is a Staffordshire transferware plate illustrating a garden scene overlooking a river, boat and buildings in the distance. Colors are black and gray on white stoneware. Although the maker is not identified, I believe it to be a Thomas Mayer's, made in Stoke on Trent during the 1830's – 1850's. The only mark on the back is "Canova Stoneware".
