Here is a 19th Century ironstone plate by T.J. & J. Mayer with "Rhone Scenery", c. 1843-55. The black transfer design is of a castle along the Rhone River. In the distance are mountains and clouds. In the foreground, a gentleman and lady stroll along the riverbank. It appears they have stopped and are being serenaded by the violin player. A boat is moored just behind a wall in the river.
