Only very special cookies may go into this basket! The rose encrusted cookie jar was made in Sarreguemines when it was either a French or a German territory. The marks indicate 1889-1922. Each of the three roses, pink and red, is fully modeled. The handle to the lid is a raised green stem. The bottom half of the jar is modeled as woven splints. Scots Emblem is a bone china cup and saucer made by Royal Standard of England. The purple color of the thistles is stronger than my pictures show. And I particularly like the thistle inside the cup. Royal Standard is the name used by Chapmans Longton Ltd., 1916-1969. It was later absorbed by Royal Doulton Group. The number 685 is written on the inside of the cup base. Condition of both pieces is excellent.
