William Rogers and Sons Silver company patented this State Series in 1915. The master butter knife has a twist where the handle meets the blade. This offset allows the knife to sit upright when placed on a plate. It also allows the knife to balance on the support hooks found on domed butter dishes. Frank M. Whiting Co. produced these Sterling Silver shakers with glass liners and plastic screw tops, ca. 1930s. These were a great improvement over shakers with silver tops which were quickly corroded by the salt.
