William Rogers and Sons Silver company patented this State Series in 1915. The master butter knife has a twist where the handle meets the blade. This offset allows the knife to sit upright when placed on a plate. It also allows the knife to balance on the support hooks found on domed butter dishes. The nicely designed handle is embossed with an Eagle above the words United States of America which enclose a Shield of 13 stars above 7 bars. The holidays are not complete without a bowl of nuts to shell. This set of four silver plate nut picks in the "Olive" pattern by Rogers & Brother will add a lovely touch to your table. Frank M. Whiting Co. produced these Sterling Silver shakers with glass liners and plastic screw tops, ca. 1930s. These were a great improvement over shakers with silver tops which were quickly corroded by the salt. The glass liners and plastic lids made it no longer necessary to frequently empty the salt shaker. The barrel shape design has a wide horizontal band around the middle.
