This small wooden box with a sliding lid had a practical use in the early 1900s. It could contain a pair of eyeglasses which the optician would mail to the customer. All that was needed was the address label and postage. I came across that bit of information after seeing the identical box with the labeling and postage. Until then, I assumed this was used for carrying bees or some such purpose. The box is 5 5/8" long x 2 1/2" wide x 1 1/4" high.
