Only very special cookies may go into this basket! The rose encrusted cookie jar was made in Sarreguemines when it was either a French or a German territory. The marks indicate 1889-1922. Each of the three roses, pink and red, is fully modeled. The handle to the lid is a raised green stem. The bottom half of the jar is modeled as woven splints. Luneville France pottery spongeware plate with hand painted rooster is 9" in diameter and in excellent condition. A band of red leaves are sponged around the edge. Hand painted, the handsome and imposing rooster stands on green ground with long green leaves and two red flowers enclosing him.
