This beautiful old fur collar is from the 1940's or earlier. I was told that this is mink per a family member who remembers grandma wearing this in her grand style. The inside label reads Furs by Sverre Norland and Erie. Pa.. The collar can be worn buttoned onto a coat or by itself. There seems to be at least two pelts. In researching this coat from the 1940's I found this ad from the H.S. Barney Co. The ad reads: Everything about a Shagmoor coat is trim, precise, eloquent and exclusive. No other coats have quite the same handsome flawless fabrics, patterns, fur colors and tailoring. This ad was in a news paper dated Oct.28, 1929. The Shagmoor Company started in 1920.
