After WWII items that were imported from Japan to the U.S. were marked Made in Occupied Japan. This mark was used from 1945-1952. The mark continued on some items for a few more years. These items have become very collectible . With Made in Occupied Japan it is certainly easier to date items. I would like to think the popularity of collecting these items is due to celebrate a unique period in history. These porcelain figurines are definitely a matched pair.
