I loved those pot-luck suppers and holiday dinners back in the 50's-60's when Gelatin molded salads were popular. Everyone tried to make their best recipes. This type of mold was often used. The ring mold measures 9 1/2 inches. The opening in the center was frequently used for dressings. The mold could also be used for other dishes like meatloaf with cat sup in the middle for serving.
