Jig Saw Puzzles have been around since the 1700's. In the 1920's there was a resurgence in popularity in this country with the onset of the Great Depression. In 1933 sales peaked at 10 million per week. People stayed home for entertainment. Unemployed craftsman made many puzzles at home. After WWII sales declined. New methods using machines and cardboard were used to produce most puzzles.
