Sweetheart jewelry has been popular in this country since WWI. Servicemen would send memento's home to their loved one's. This pendant was sent during WWII. The insignia is of the Army Air Corps at that time. Many of the Sweetheart pieces were hand made from items that were available by the servicemen where they were stationed. The pendant shaped as a heart was made from lucite or Perspex used in air-plane windows and other base buildings. The heart measures 2 inches x 1 3/4 inches.
