This brooch is signed Nakai and hallmarked sterling on the back. Nakai is a name associated with fine quality and excellent craftsmanship. The brooch is 2 1/2 inches long and 1/2 inch high.Total weight is approx.1 ounce. There are three pueblos and one hogan done in overlay work on the brooch. Exquisite Vintage bar brooch Hallmarked Sterling and the makers mark D. Benally. There are many silversmiths in the Navajo Benally clan. I believe the maker may be Daniel Benally whose style of design is of the older Navajo style of design. The brooch measures 2 1/2 inches long and 3/4 inches wide in the middle. The supporting plate has a flowing scallop like design around the edges. The center oval stone appears to be spin-ney oyster and measures 1/2" x 3/8 ".
