The ring is a 1.5 carat diamond with "L" color, excellent clarity and cut in "transitional" fashion. There are three smaller diamonds on each side of the center stone bring the total carat weight to 1.6. According to a jeweler I consulted, Transitional refers to a period in the USA when diamond cutters were moving from the classic training they had received in Europe towards what would become the "American" style.
