Effie Calavaza 1928- is known for her distinctive silver snake and nugget designs. All of her work along with her daughter's is signed Effie C-Zuni. The bar on the necklace has 5 turquoise nuggets and measures 2 3/4 inches long X1/2" wide. Two cute flat headed snakes with inlaid turquoise eyes intertwine the nuggets and bar. I believe these pieces are from the 1940's. Most likely made by the Harvey Company who hired Native Americans to make jewelry for the tourist trade. The bar pin and screw back earrings are not marked. These pieces were acquired at different times and places but they have the same exact squash blossom design. This beautiful set was designed and made by sought after well know Navajo Roie Jaque. Jaque is noted for his clean lines and contrasting colors in his jewelry style. This set appears to be more contemporary in design. The set is marked sterling by the artisans. I have had a very difficult time trying to decipher the names in script on the back The earrings are made with quality craftsmanship. There are no visible seams in the bezel settings. The top post appear to have a turquoise colored stone bezel set with three bars below the setting. The dangles are attached with soldered rings.
