This is a burnished Tonala pottery horse in excellent condition. This piece has a wonderful Modern appeal and is very unique. It measures 10" long, 6" high, 3" wide. No flaws. It is whimsical and lovely in shades of tan, brown with white, black, gray & charcoal colors. The tail is painted on as is the bridle. It reminds me of the horses you see drawn in cave paintings or rock paintings of ancient times.

The hobnails are larger than most glassware of this type and the top is fluted and ruffled. It stands 5 3/4" tall and the bottom has a 2 1/2" diameter. The motif is as fresh today as when it was designed by artist Gail Turnbull in the fifties.
