This advertising mug is celebrating the 1984 100th Anniversary of the A.C. Houston Lumber Company. The white mug is heavily decorated in gold and also reads; All Kinds of Building Materials. The lumber company began in 1884 and is still in business today with stores in Ketchum, ID - Angel Fire, NM - Crested Butte, CO - Durango, CO - Farmington, NM - Gallup, NM - Indio, CA - North Las Vegas, NV and Sacramento, CA. This ceramic glass was a souvenir from Trader Dick's in Reno The restaurant has been known for years for their Polynesian lounge cuisine and island décor. On one side of this glazed pottery glass is a blonde girl in a bikini riding a wave. One the other side are dolphins or fish and in raised letters the name Trader Dick's with a registered mark. Apparently a variety of alcoholic fruit drinks were served in these glasses which are also often referred to as mugs. This colorful ceramic mug is basically a souvenir piece of Louisville, Kentucky. The 10 oz. mug is beautifully hand decorated with images of a thoroughbred horses, jockeys astride, racing past Churchill Downs' famed twin spires. With the image on two sides as though the horses were racing toward each other. It reads; Derby City U.S.A. - Louisville, Kentucky. This little piece of pottery is advertising the Christiania Restaurant in Ketchum, Idaho, a long time hang out of Ketchum and Sun Valley residents and visitors. It looks like a little Mexican pot with a short handle. It is made of a red clay which is glazed except for the bottom. This may have been used as a little sauce dish or perhaps an ashtray.
