This one was built by the Sulpicians, a Community of Diocesan Priests. The attractive windmill decor makes it a lovely addition to a collection. The plate is scalloped and has a 20 K gold brim. A lovely "tondo" in the Italian Renaissance style of Andrea della Robbia depicting a Madonna surrounded by a garland of fruits and leaves on vivid blue pottery. Such pieces of pottery are often seen in Tuscany; cemented near the front door they are believed to protect the home. The Madonna has delicate features and this piece is truly a pleasure to look at.
