This is a very pretty late Victorian Burmese glass cameo. Queen Victoria's contemporaries loved this pink glass obtained by heating gold to yellow glass (translucent white mixed with uranium oxide). To obtain the desired shade of pink, gold was heated in the glass as often as needed. In a charming gilded frame, the cameo still has a few traces of the white originally enhancing it. I love simulated pearls when they look as nice as these: Two rows, graduated, creamy and light; this 1970s Matinee length necklace looks wonderful mixed with gold chains too. The necklace has a hook and extender. No mark. The hook may not be the original one; this style usually has a made in Japan hook; but I may be wrong. Condition is very good with very little wear to the coating on 1 small bead. The hook and one tiny metal cap at end are darker. One metal cap is silver tone.
