This is a wonderful pottery figurine, one of a series of "Gay Nineties" figurines made by Brayton pottery of Laguna Beach, California during the early 1940s. The underside of the figurine is hand incised "Brayton Laguna Pottery ©" - it is also marked with the letter B in black. This piece is pictured in the book "Collector's Encyclopedia of California Pottery Second Edition" on page 66. The book dates the piece to 1941, although the mark is dated to between 1930 and 1937.
