About Us
I've been in the antiques business for most of my adult life but selling rugs is a more recent but logical incarnation of that business. I've always had an interest in and love of oriental rugs and tribal weavings. Several years ago I had the opportunity to acquire a few rugs, and after selling them at the local antiques shop that I have a space in, I decided to specialize in mostly tribal rugs and other related weavings, such as saddlebags.
My inventory has grown to include large, medium and small rugs from Iran, India, Turkey and Afghanistan, new as well as semi-antique, with a few antique pieces thrown in. I also occasionally sell horse and camel trappings, embroideries from Uzbekistan and whatever else is interesting and beautiful.
*I'd like to mention here that the current embargo on Iranian goods has caused a shortage of Iranian or Persian rugs in this country. Prices on the wholesale market have risen drastically. I expect that this situation will ease eventually and that prices will level out.
The world of rugs is vast and complicated and fascinating and although I've learned so much along the way, I'll be the first to admit that my knowledge barely scratches the surface. But learning more is a great joy.
