About Us
Welcome to our shoppe. You will find unusual vintage home decor such as prints, salt/pepper shakers and other smalls along with one-of-a-kind handmade primitive crafts including Rustic Adirondack twig birds, bird houses, hand woven bowls, baskets and vases using the wrap and knot method based on Native American designs, hand crocheted rag rugs from cotton and plastic bags. Also you may find original artwork which could have a primitive or modern design.
We have been dealing in vintage and hand made items since 1975 including 2 stores and many fundraisers for a local hospital on Long Island.
In 1988 we moved to the beautiful and historic Finger Lakes region of New York where we are surrounded by Mother Nature's beauty and Native American history year round. This is what gives us the inspiration for our work.
Rag rugs are one of our basic hand made inventory items. Mostly made using cotton sheets, curtains, blouses, shirts and denim. Everything is hand done including the fabric ripping. Each item is unique in its own way. Since we do not seam the strips, they have ragged edges. We recommend using a non-slip under pad if using on highly waxed floors. Easy washing and drying instructions.
Check out our up-cycled hand crocheted plastic bag rugs. We use over 100 plastic bread, veggie, bird food, etc. bags for each rug keeping those bags from the dumps.
Our hand woven baskets, bowls and vases mostly use yarn or fabric strips wrapped and knotted over twisted raffia, rope or sea grass and are mostly inspired by Native American Designs.
We are very carbon sensitive so much our our work is done outside. Our workshop has a large front window letting in much light. Also much of our wood comes from downed or trimmed trees along with reclaimed barn boards. For many years we had an antique repair and refinishing business which left us with many furniture parts. We try to include these in what we make giving them a new life.
We are an on-line shoppe only and not open to the public.
Customers are always welcome to e-mail any questions or ideas.
