This sweet old Tunbridge Ware Box, features a Scottish Terrier and a West Highland Terrier in the center of the lid. Tunbridge ware is made by glueing strips of different colored wood together to form a design, this is then cut into thin slices and applied to the item as a veneer. It looks like Marquetry or Parquetry but was not as labor intensive.
