This ironstone platter, made by W. H. Grindley & Co., is beautifully decorated in the Daffodil pattern, registered in Great Britain in 1882. The brown is a rich dark chocolate color and the pattern features a peaceful summer scene of a young boy sitting on the grass of a country estate watching a sailboat. We are selling these two 19th Century black transferware plates with excerpts from Benjamin Franklin's "Poor Richard's Way to Wealth" as a pair. Both plates are 5 7/8" in diameter and have a basket weave border. The first plate reads: "He that goes a borrowing goes a sorrowing Rather go to bed supperless than rise in debt". This is an exceptionally beautiful pair of antique cake plates in excellent condition. Both plates are impressed with an anchor within a wreath and one plate has the numbers 230 handwritten in gold. They are beautifully decorated with relief molded handles and hand applied gilt stylized tea leaf in the center and an elaborate wide tea leaf and geometric border. SOLD - THANKS SHEREE! This is a delightful pitcher in Mason's Dragon pattern with fabulous red, white, and black coloring. The just is eight sided and stands 3 1/2" tall. It has a transfer printed mark on the underside with the crown and banner and pre-dates 1891 when England was added to the mark. This wonderful antiques pitcher is in excellent condition.
