Vintage fine art batik painting that is signed by Sandra Grassi Nelipovich from 1999 still in excellent condition. Sandra uses the batik process of painting with wax on silk. She applies the wax on silk and then color dyes the areas with out wax by soaking the silk in different dyes over time. She uses a brush to apply the wax because it gives her better control over the design. Sandra uses silk because it picks up the dye much better than other fabrics.
